Why Low Spinney

The Low Spinney Wind Farm is located on arable farmland between the villages of Ashby Magna, Dunton Bassett and Gilmorton.

The land, owned by local farmers, is suitable for a wind farm development due to  for the following reasons:

  • Good wind resource
  • Sufficient land for a small scheme set away from properties
  • Away from areas of national ecological or landscape significance
  • Robust electrical infrastructure  to enable generated electricity to be distributed to the National Grid
  • Good access to the main road, and near the national motorway system
  • Scope for farm diversification

When the turbines are erected the land can continue to be used for farming.
